I figure, you know, if you treat people right, you can only hope that they treat you right. It’s as simple as it gets in this complicated world.

This morning as I walked my broken bicycle down the sidewalk a man stopped me to ask how to say “pretty” in spanish. I told him “bonita” but if you want to flirt, it’s better to call them “muy rica”. He walked beside me for a while and we talked. Eventually he mentioned that he was short, and I gave him the only bill I had in my wallet. I felt a little bit like a sucker, but reading this made me feel better. I just imagined how hard it would be for me to talk to strangers and ask them for money if I had to. He must’ve really needed it.
